With many veils of transparant watercolour paint we intensify the colours. The colours that we see in the sky, are our example. They appear by the meeting of sunlight and darkness. We also have such a kind of light, colour and darkness in us, being our thinking, feeling and willing. Rudolf Steiner, in his spiritual science, gave the insights from which this method of painting is developed.
